Pretty Lucky

I’m a little out of breath, a little sweaty, just in from a late-night ride along the river. And what a ride! Man, every time I’m out in this city, I fall deeper in love with it. The moon cast diamonds on the Hudson, a beautiful brine smell rising heavy on the cool wind, the collapsing hulks of steel melting into the waves… and me, riding as quickly as I can into the dark. Unbelievable. Anyway, it’s nice. I’m happy to be here.

So, what’s going on? Well, it’s been a stupid busy week, mostly with work. I can’t say that I’ve done much. I’ve been lucky to get a run in, and to get my hair cut. We launched movie news in earnest this week at the MTV, which has consumed most of my days and nights. It’s been three years in the making, and it rocks. Other than that, I’ve had a few beers with some friends, and continued to lay the groundwork for the “Summer’s Gone” remix EP.

But not much. It’s all slow going. I have some new ideas, but until my tax return comes in, it’s all moot. I’ve been listeneing to the Goo Goo Dolls’ “Here Is Gone” over and over and over.

Drinking lots of Fierce Berry Gatorade.

But mostly, I’ve been spending a lot of time alone, in my head, a little lonesome, maybe a little depressed. I asked for this, so I can’t complain. After all, I’m pretty lucky to be here.
