Life Is Short, Dreams Are Few
March 18, 2002
After a punishing day at MTV News, I’m done with dinner and half way through “October Sky,” a film about a boy who sees Sputnik soar over his West Virginia coal town and dreams of building rockets. He goes on to escape the small town, and work for NASA.
Very “Summer’s Gone.” It’s already wedged a lump in my throat with it’s sentimentality and lack of cynicism. Life is short, and dreams are few.
Made up all these plans
Of what we’d do with these bare hands
Build a rocket to the moon
We’re just half way there
Just wishing on this half-baked pair of dreams
Too ambitious to ever come true.
